The Prodie Racer held off a Kawa 900 on the straightsHere are 2 photos of the bikes, sorry about the quality of one. The Prodie Racer had a Norvil front end, fibre glass tank, half fairing and sports seat, and was good for around 120-125mph, the Full Race bike was a bit special, this had the engine from the Factory, and it had special cams, bigger valves, lots of titanium bits & bobs to make the internals lighter. This engine produced around 70 BHP, and the bike was capable of around 140mph. It was in a one off frame and had triple discs, leading link front suspension, alloy wheels (all of which sounds normal today!) It would hold off a 900 Kawasaki on the straights, and leave them for dust on the twisty bits. The Prodie Racer was sold to a guy, who promptly put it into a wall,
and that was the end of that one! The Full Race bike I'm not sure
of the fate of. I only had use of this, as it belonged to a friend
called Tim Tucker. I used this for a couple of seasons 'til I had a biggie which is when I gave up racing. I sold the frame to another friend, who sold it on again to a guy who was after the works engine, so he could rebuild it as we used to race it, but that is all I know. The photo of me on the Prodie, was taken at RAF Gaydon in Warwickshire, the one of the two bikes was taken at Staverton airport in Gloucestershire, and would be around 1973/4.
I don't have an Enfield now, but still have my Triumph T160 that
I bought new in 1975, this is in pieces at the moment as I decided
to restore it some If I find any more photos, I will send them on to you. I don't think the bikes exist anymore, but you may know differently! Happy biking Phil Back to Index
